Financial Center Helps Distribute Shoes to Children in Indianapolis
Financial Center staff worked alongside representatives from several other Indiana credit unions with Samaritan’s Feet to provide shoes to children at the Holy Cross Central School in downtown Indianapolis on January 23rd. Volunteers helped students find the right shoe size and outfitted them with new socks and shoes. The event was organized by the Indiana Credit Union League (ICUL), who has partnered with Samaritan’s Feet over the last several years to collect shoes at the annual League convention as well as to take part in a charity walk in Indianapolis the past two years to raise money for the organization.
Jomar Banks is part of the Member Experience Team at Financial Center. “I have never participated in anything like Samaritan’s Feet and was not sure what to expect. Helping people is always great, but to see the smiles on some of the kids’ faces was priceless.”
Susan Abbett works in the Member Solutions area. “There is nothing more rewarding than knowing I got to make a child smile that day. I may never know who walked away with a bigger smile that day, me or them.”
“I was very blessed to be able to be part of those memories for these children,” said Fawn Hardesty, a Personal Service Representative at Financial Center. “The excitement and gratitude they showed was heartwarming.”
