Glossary of terms

Making Sense of Dollars and Cents.

It's hard to make sense of the difference between APR and APY. Below is a simple guide to some common financial terms.

  • Maturity

    The end of the life of a share certificate or loan.

  • Mortgage

    A document signed by the borrower when a home loan is made, giving the lender the right to take possession of that home if the borrower fails to pay off the loan.

  • Mortgagee

    The lender who holds the mortgage.

  • Mortgagor

    The borrower who mortgages the property.

  • Mutual Funds

    Type of investment in which you buy into a portfolio of stocks, bonds, or other securities, rather than investing in individual securities. The mutual fund company pools investors' money and manages the portfolio. Each mutual fund has its own investment objectives and strategies.

  • NCUA (National Credit Union Administration)

    The US government agency that federally insures our Credit Union share accounts and regulates the operation of federal credit unions and state-chartered, federally insured credit unions.
