The Financial Center Board of Directors is comprised of nine members. Each year an equal number of Directors’ terms expire and the positions are filled in accordance with the Financial Center bylaws. In 2014 three 3-year terms will be filled. Applications from three qualified nominees for the Board of Directors were received and submitted by the Nominating Committee. They were Mr. Russell Dowden, Mr. James Benoit, and Mr. William Stevens. The three nominees are current members of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Russell Dowden
Mr. Dowden is a currently serving member of the Financial Center Board of Directors. He has experience on numerous committees and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In addition to his time with the Credit Union, Mr. Dowden has over forty years of professional financial and management experience. He is a retired Army Colonel and a retired business executive. Mr. Dowden holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Master’s degree in Business Administration; additionally, he is a graduate of numerous specialty courses in management, leadership, and strategic planning. Mr. Dowden is active in his community and meets all of the prerequisites for a position on the Board of Directors.
Mr. James Benoit
Mr. Benoit is seeking his second term as a member of the Board of Directors. He has vast experience in the financial management arena. Mr. Benoit has a Bachelor's degree as well as a Master's degree in Business Administration. He spent over twenty years in the Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, and continued to broaden his financial and management skills in private industry and with the federal government. He will bring to the board his experience in management, financial operations, information technology, and marketing. Mr. Benoit is active in his community and meets all of the prerequisites for a position on the Board of Directors.
Mr. William Stevens
Mr. Stevens is a current member of the Board of Directors. He has served on several committees and a former Second Vice Chairman. Mr. Stevens is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner with over thirty years of experience in the federal government. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He will bring to the Board his experience management, compliance, financial operations, and information technology. Mr. Stevens is active in the community and meets all the prerequisites for a position on the Board of Directors.
Nominations for vacancies may also be made by petition signed by one percent of the member, with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 500. Each nominee by petition shall submit a statement of qualifications and biographical data with their written petition, along with a singed certificate that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office. The deadline for receiving nominations by petition is February 24, 2014. The election will not be conducted by ballot. There will be no nominations accepted from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled.
