What to Do with a Fraudulent Cashier's Check

by Hostetler, Michael

Our Credit Union's name was recently utilized for fraudulent purposes. If you have received a letter from Infiniti Research Group or Lightspeed Research Inc. indicating that you've been selected as a Customers Service Evaluator in your area, along with an accompanying cashier's check (purportedly from Finance Center Federal Credit Union) and a request to wire money through Western Union, do not attempt to cash or deposit this check or wire any money.

If you do deposit or cash the check, contact the financial institution where you cashed the check and inform them that you have become aware that the check is fraudulent. Deposit the cash you received from the check back in to your account as the account will be debited when the check is returned unpaid.

If you receive a fraudulent cashier's check, please send the check and letter to our Credit Union. Here's the address:

Finance Center Federal Credit Union
Attn: Joanna Dearth
7101 East 56th Street
Indianapolis, IN 46226
