Important Information on Heartbleed Bug

by Hostetler, Michael

In the past several days, you may have heard news about the Heartbleed bug. At its core, the Heartbleed bug creates a hole in software used across the Internet that could potentially expose your username and password on websites that you frequently visit.

Financial Center has researched this issue extensively and has found that the Heartbleed bug only affects organizations that use the openSSL programming language for their electronic transaction activities.

Neither Financial Center’s online banking site nor its website use openSSL. The Heartbleed bug does not pose any imminent threat to our Credit Union or our ability to provide you services.

The Credit Union will continue to monitor the situation, and take the appropriate steps to ensure that your account information remains safe.
