Credit Union Employee Fourth Place in Sports Illustrated Bracket Contest
It’s an exciting weekend in the Indianapolis area. Not only are the hometown Butler Bulldogs fighting for a national championship, but the city is also hosting the Women’s Final Four. An annual March Madness tradition for fans is filling out a bracket with predictions on who they think will be the national champion.
Jennifer Rue works in Financial Center’s Internal Audit department. When she filled out her bracket on Sports Illustrated’s website for their contest it was the first time she had ever completed one.
Going into this weekend’s games, Jennifer’s bracket is in fourth place in Sports Illustrated’s contest.
It’s too late to make changes to your bracket this year, but Jennifer offered some great tips on how to make sure that your bracket does not end up busted next year.
Give the underdogs a chance. Don’t be influenced by tournament seeds, and don’t be afraid to pick a winner from a mid-major conference.
Trust your instinct. Jennifer completed her bracket in only three minutes. “It’s important not to overanalyze your picks,” she says.
Pay attention to a team’s late season performance, particularly how they fare in their conference tournaments. Do not be influenced by a team’s success earlier in the season.
Just as she predicted, Jennifer will be cheering on her hometown Bulldogs in the Final Four this weekend. Her number one piece of advice: "Have faith in your team!"
